Before we finished building SOS Global Recruitment, we went and looked properly at what agencies are already being sold. Not a marketing skim — a direct look at how each platform positions itself, what it claims about compliance and data, and how it talks about human oversight. Here's what we found, presented as fairly as we can manage, because a comparison only means something if it's accurate.
The enterprise talent-intelligence tier
Beamery positions itself as "the AI platform for workforce transformation," built around its agentic copilot and deep HRIS integration with tools like Workday. Its compliance posture is genuinely serious — a published Trust Center and a third-party bias assessment — but it's framed as platform governance, not candidate-level verification.
Eightfold AI pairs a large proprietary careers dataset with an explicit "human-led" framing and one of the strongest credential stacks in the category: ISO/IEC 42001, FedRAMP Moderate, SOC 2 Type II. Impressive on the governance side. Still silent on re-verifying an individual candidate's status at the point of placement.
HireVue leans hard into assessment science — its "Our Science" hub is one of the better examples of a platform publishing its actual methodology rather than just claiming accuracy. Compliance messaging centres on AI ethics and explainability, not background-check currency.
The high-volume and mid-market tier
Paradox, built around its named AI assistant "Olivia," is squarely focused on fast, mobile-first hiring at volume. It explicitly addresses "fairness and compliance" — but generically, as a legal-defensibility claim about the AI itself, not a statement about verifying a candidate's status is current.
SmartRecruiters and iCIMS both lead with speed and scale statistics — faster time-to-hire, less scheduling admin, thousands of client companies. Both reference data governance certifications (TrustArc, GDPR/CCPA support). Neither publishes anything on candidate-level compliance re-verification.
The staffing-agency-specific tier
This is the closest comparison set to what we've built. Bullhorn, the category incumbent, makes a real trust claim worth noting: candidate and client data stays inside Bullhorn rather than being sent to general-purpose AI tools. That's a genuine, specific commitment — about AI training data, not candidate sourcing or verification, but closer to our own "your data stays yours" position than anything else we found. Vincere (now part of Access Group) emphasises GDPR-readiness and ISO-certified security with unusually transparent published pricing, but again frames trust around data security rather than compliance currency.
The healthcare-specific tier
This is where the gap is most visible, because it's where it matters most. Lantum, a UK locum marketplace, has a named compliance product — but even there, no public detail on what's actually checked, or whether it's re-verified at the point of a shift starting. Patchwork Health, despite serving 200+ NHS organisations, doesn't reference DBS, right-to-work, or credentialing anywhere on its public site — a notable gap for a healthcare staffing platform. Access Group's healthcare recruitment software comes closest to genuine depth, running background checks across 140+ categories with automated expiry-alert reminders. That's real progress over a single check-and-forget model. It's still a renewal-alert model, not a live, point-of-placement re-verification.
Where the gap actually sits
Across every platform we looked at, "compliance" resolves to one of two things: governance of the platform itself (certifications, data handling, bias audits), or a one-time or periodically-renewed candidate check. Nobody in the category we researched publicly describes re-verifying a candidate's compliance status live, on the actual day a placement starts. That's not a minor feature gap — it's the exact moment a stale clearance turns into a real liability.
That gap, paired with a genuinely zero-third-party sourcing model and mandatory human sign-off at every tier, is the specific position SOS Global Recruitment is built to hold. Not faster than everyone else. Not a bigger database than everyone else. Verified twice, not once — and never from data a candidate didn't consent to.
